Yes, it is winter here in New Hampshire. And the animals are mostly indoors. The snow is way over my Pomeranian Felix's head. When I put him out to do his business he looks up at the snow banks, knowing he can't possibly attempt to climb them. After getting another foot on top of what we already had, he didn't even attempt to go down the steps, which he could no longer identify since they only looked like a white blanket with nowhere for him to step.
But then there are other animals who have no problem in the snow and run through it, kicking up their hooves, like the white horse in the painting. Although it was a photo I took a few years ago, I remember that day and loved watching the beautiful white horse run across the snow-covered fields. I think he was giving me a show, though, since he would stop and whinny, often looking my way. Or maybe he was simply expressing his joy in the snow-covered fields and his freedom to run. I could have sat there and watched him all day. But it was winter, and it was cold.
